Logline:
Two prisoners of war break the language barrier and find humanity in the simple act of playing a game of noughts and crosses for bread… until a sinister soldier changes the stakes.

Production & Recognition:
Created for the Glasgow 48 Hour Film Festival, this gripping wartime short from Production Hoose showcases the team’s dedication to authenticity and emotional storytelling. Filmed at a genuine 1940s prisoner of war camp in Scotland — a site that once held both high-level Nazi and Italian prisoners — the production utilised authentic 1940s costumes and props to bring the era vividly to life. German and Italian translators were present on set to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy throughout the film.
What begins as a quiet moment of shared humanity between enemies evolves into a tense and deeply human story of survival, compassion, and the brutal realities of war — all brought together from concept to screen in just 48 hours.
